ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Interior has revealed that Rs 47.8 million was expended on VIP security protocols in April 2024.
In a report submitted to the National Assembly, the Ministry detailed that the funds were allocated for the security of judges, bureaucrats, and ministers during the month. The security arrangements included the deployment of 532 police officers and 44 vehicles.
Specifically, 34 vehicles and 409 police officers were assigned to safeguard judges, while six vehicles and 79 officers were designated for the protection of bureaucrats. Additionally, four vehicles and 44 police guards were provided for various ministers.
In related news, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has decided to propose the abolition of five federal ministries, according to ARY News sources. The ministries under consideration for dissolution include Information Technology, Kashmir Affairs, Science and Technology, Industry and Production, and Health Services.
The decision follows advocacy from Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari for streamlining federal ministries. The relevant ministries have been instructed to submit recommendations for the proposed changes within a week. Additionally, Prime Minister Sharif has requested details on the functions of ministries that have been transferred to provincial authorities.
