Migration to Europe: A Parallel Trend
Separately, figures from the European Union Agency for Asylum (EUAA) reported that 28,000 Pakistani nationals applied for international protection in EU+ countries between October 2023 and October 2024.
Asylum applications peaked in October 2023, reaching around 3,400, but have since declined, falling to 1,900 by October 2024. These figures are considered separately from official overseas employment, as many applicants reportedly used irregular migration routes, including human smuggling channels, to reach Europe.
