Only three women are included in the cabinet
ISLAMABAD: Only three women are included in the 25-member cabinet of the caretaker prime minister Anwarul Haq Kakar on Thursday.
The 25 members of the cabinet of the caretaker PM took oath today at Aiwan-e-Sadr. Dr Shamshad Akhtar, former SBP Governor has been appointed as the caretaker finance minister, Mishal Hussain Mulick was accommodated as special assistant to PM Kakar on human rights while Syeda Arfa Zehra has been appointed as a special assistant to the PM on education and national harmony. Hence, only three women took oath as members of the federal cabinet on Thursday.
Notably, Dr. Shamshad Akhtar has been given preference in the cabinet as the caretaker finance minister while her strong contender, Dr. Waqar Masood has been appointed adviser to the PM for Finance.
Sixteen cabinet members are federal ministers, three are advisers and six are special assistants to PM Anwarul Haq Kakar.
President Arif Alvi administered the oath at a ceremony held at Aiwan-e-Sadr in Islamabad.

The ceremony started with the national anthem before the recitation of verses from the Holy Quran and was attended by Interim Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar, Punjab Caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi, politicians, and prominent figures from all walks of life.
The first batch of the caretaker cabinet members took oath today at 5 pm in Islamabad.
Earlier, the interim prime minister Anwarul Haq concluded consultations regarding the selection of his cabinet members. Several prominent figures were considered for important roles within the interim administration.
