ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz Supremo, Nawaz Sharif, alleged that there are coordinated efforts to shield Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, who is entangled in corruption scandals involving billions of rupees.
Addressing the media, he claimed that even the Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Umar Ata Bandial is compromising his reputation to support Khan.
Nawaz Sharif stated emphatically that the public widely recognizes Imran Khan as corrupt and holds him accountable for Pakistan’s decline.
He also accused the PTI chairman of repeated violations of the Constitution and implicated Generals Bajwa and Faiz in facilitating his ascent to power.
Mr. Sharif further criticized the former PM for allegedly damaging the ethical values of the Pakistani nation and promoting unruly behavior. He contrasted Khan’s history of engaging in sit-ins and protests during his opposition period with PML-N’s dedicated service to the nation during their terms in power.
Recalling Khan’s statements during sit-ins, Mr. Sharif said that the PTI chairman had threatened to forcibly evict him from the Prime Minister’s House and even mentioned depriving him of basic amenities in his prison cell. He also pointed out that former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had openly supported Imran Khan while advocating for his and Maryam Nawaz’s imprisonment
