A 16-member committee has been established to ensure smooth parliamentary proceedings. National Assembly Speaker Ayaz Sadiq has proposed the creation of a ‘Charter of Parliament’ to foster cooperation between the government and opposition, emphasizing the need for a unified approach in managing the House.
“If the opposition does not speak here, where else will it?” Speaker Sadiq urged, calling for constructive dialogue between both sides.
He expressed his commitment to resolving issues within the Assembly, stating, “I acted according to my conscience and my responsibilities.”
Sadiq also stressed the importance of transparency, pledging to investigate recent incidents, including the arrest of a PTI MNA from Parliament and the suspension of five Lower House security personnel.
A resolution was unanimously passed by the House to form a 16-member committee aimed at improving parliamentary processes. This committee will include equal representation from both the government and the opposition, as highlighted by Atta Tarrar, who stressed the need for collaboration.
Speaker Sadiq reaffirmed that effective functioning of the House depends on joint efforts from both government and opposition, asserting, “Neither the government nor the opposition alone can run the House.”
