NAB interrogates Imran Khan and Bushra Bibi on corruption allegations

ISLAMABAD: On Tuesday, the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) conducted an inquiry into the Toshakhana case and £190 million settlement case by questioning Imran Khan, the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and his wife Bushra Bibi. The couple appeared before the anti-corruption watchdog at its Rawalpindi office for the investigation proceedings regarding the two cases.

According to sources, the combined investigation teams (CIT) handling the Toshakhana case and the 190 million Pounds settlement cases were presented with certain documents during the inquiry process.

The investigators questioned the Chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, regarding the gifts he received and any subsequent sale of those gifts. The inquiries included the state gift depository and a multimillion-pound settlement with the UK’s National Crime Agency (NCA).

Authorities directed specific inquiries toward the former first lady, Bushra Bibi, regarding her involvement in corruption concerning Al-Qadir University and the acquisition of land.

Pakistan consul general in Dubai recalled

In relation to the Toshakhana case involving the former prime minister, the authorities summoned Pakistan’s Consul General in Dubai, Hassan Afzal Khan, for further investigation.

Hassan Afzal Khan, who is the former chief of protocol and director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has duly returned to the department as requested. It is worth mentioning that the chief of protocol receives a comprehensive list of various matters pertaining to the foreign visits of the prime ministers through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The list encompasses detailed information regarding the gifts presented to the prime minister and members of the delegation during their foreign visits.

Considering this, Hassan Afzal Khan holds a crucial position as the first official possessing comprehensive knowledge about the gifts received by the former prime minister and his associates from foreign governments. Consequently, he can play a significant role in the investigation process of the Toshakhana case.
