Farooq Sattar Criticizes K-Electric, Calls for End to Electricity Taxes
On Thursday, Dr. Farooq Sattar, a senior leader of Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), demanded that K-Electric eliminate taxes on electricity and reduce power tariffs.
During a party demonstration against K-Electric, Sattar criticized the utility provider, stating, “If our demands are not met, a group of thousands could quickly grow into millions.” He warned that if K-Electric fails to take action, the public may resort to implementing their own solutions.
MQM-P Voices Concern Over Sindh’s Post-Rain Situation
Last month, MQM-P expressed alarm over the worsening conditions in Sindh following recent rainfall.
An MQM-P spokesperson remarked, “If Karachi’s situation deteriorates further with moderate rain, what will happen if there is torrential rainfall?” They noted that the current rainfall has exacerbated the city’s already poor conditions, making travel difficult due to the dilapidated state of the roads.
The spokesperson criticized local authorities, saying, “The mayor and local representatives seem indifferent to Karachi’s infrastructure issues. Provincial ministers and the mayor should stop presenting Karachi as a city like Paris or London while they themselves travel in expensive, air-conditioned vehicles.”
