Mother, Daughter Die After Being Hit by Police Van on Srinagar highway

ISLAMABAD: A mother and daughter died after being hit by a police mobile van on the Srinagar Highway.

The driver was arrested by the police, and the police also registered a case against him.

When the woman and her daughter were crossing the street close to Sector G-9, a police mobile van hit them.

Both victims passed away instantly.

The deceased woman’s name was Soraya Bibi, and her daughter’s name was Alia.

Although they were residents of Islamabad’s Golra neighbourhood, the victims were Afghan nationals.

The accident also injured another girl, who was taken to the hospital for treatment.

Although the police van driver had been detained, a case had been opened in the I-9 police station under the provisions of accidental death.

Meanwhile, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) of Islamabad has issued orders to complete the merit investigation into the incident as soon as possible.

Earlier in August, a speeding vehicle ran over and killed a traffic cop near Lahore’s Shimla Hill. An on-duty traffic cop, identified as Mahmood Ahmad, was killed on the spot when an overspeeding vehicle collided with him.
