The toll fee for the M2 Lahore-Islamabad Motorway has been increased as part of a scheduled 10% annual rise, according to a Motorway Authority spokesperson. The new toll for a standard vehicle traveling from Lahore to Islamabad is now Rs1,210, up from the previous Rs1,100.
Commercial vehicle tolls have also been significantly adjusted. The cost for a van traveling the same route has risen to Rs2,030, while the toll for a coaster has jumped from Rs2,240 to Rs2,840—an increase of up to Rs600.
Heavy vehicle tolls have been updated as follows: Rs4,060 for buses, Rs5,280 for trucks, and Rs6,780 for trailers. These new rates apply to all interchanges along the M2 Motorway.
The spokesperson noted that this increase is part of the planned annual adjustment outlined in the contract agreement. Despite this, travelers have voiced frustration, citing the additional toll costs amid inflation and rising living expenses as making travel increasingly challenging.
In a separate incident, Motorway Police reported the discovery of four deceased individuals in a car parked near Bhera on the M2 Motorway, with a fifth person found unconscious. The survivor later explained that they lost consciousness after consuming pastries and juice purchased from a bakery during their trip.
