Karachi’s District East Magistrate turned down FIA’s request to grant physical remand of Dania Shah, the third wife of late televangelist Aamir Liaquat, in a video leaked case.
On Saturday, FIA produced Dania Shah before judicial magistrate South and sought her physical remand.
The magistrate asked FIA to explain the jurisdiction of the case.
“The Incident took place near Tariq Road in Karachi and the suspect should have been produced in the relevant court,” the magistrate said.
The FIA prosecutor, however, stated that this was a case of cybercrime and the video was seen everywhere. He also said that there is no issue of jurisdiction.
The agency’s prosecutor further said the suspect was part of a gang and she was not operating alone.
Te magistrate, after hearing arguments, directed FIA to present Dania in the relevant court _ district east.
Dania Shah was then presented before district magistrate east who also refused to give physical remand of Dania Shah. Instead, the magistrate sent her to jail on judicial remand.
The investigator in the case said that the suspect recorded a video of private moment from the victim’s bedroom and shared it online to make it viral. He sought remand of the suspect to conduct further investigations in the case.
The prosecutor added that the suspect was part of a larger gang and that she was not acting alone.
After hearing the arguments, the court directed the FIA to present her before the relevant court, that of district east.
She was then presented before district magistrate east who denied FIA’s application for physical remand. Instead, the court sent her to jail on judicial remand.
FIA team arrested Dania Shah, the third wife of late MNA Aamir Liaquat on Thursday night from Lodhran, Punjab.
On Friday, FIA team tried to obtain physical remand of Dania Shah from a local court in Karachi, but by that time the judge had left the court, leaving FIA with no other choice but to try again on Saturday.
First wife of Aamir Liaquat, Syeda Bushra Iqbal, requested the Cyber Wing of FIA to probe Dania Shah for exposing sensitive videos and images of Aamir Liaquat which may have led to his mysterious death in Karachi.
On June 9, 2022, MNA Aamir Liaquat was found dead in mysterious circumstances at his Karachi residence. He died just a few days after Dania Shah leaked his indecent but very personal videos and images on social media.
