ISLAMABAD: Chief Justice of Pakistan, Justice Qazi Faez Isa, is slated to embark on an overseas trip from May 18th to May 25th. During his absence, Justice Muneed Akhtar will assume the responsibilities of Acting Chief Justice.
Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s scheduled trip from May 18th to May 25th coincides with the ongoing international journey of Senior Judge Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
In light of the Chief Justice’s absence, Justice Muneeb Akhtar will formally take the oath as the Acting Chief Justice of Pakistan. The swearing-in ceremony is scheduled to occur at the Supreme Court Judges’ Block at 10:30 AM, with Justice Yahya Afridi administering the oath.
Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa is set to depart for his international trip on Friday. The swearing-in ceremony for the Acting Chief Justice will witness the presence of Supreme Court judges and senior lawyers. Prior to his departure, Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa returned the protocol given to him, signifying his readiness for the upcoming engagement abroad.
It’s evident that Chief Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s itinerary includes a visit to Azerbaijan, where he will actively participate in the Chief Justices’ Conference of ECO countries, showcasing Pakistan’s commitment to regional judicial cooperation and collaboration.
Despite Justice Mansoor Ali Shah’s seniority as the next in line after the Chief Justice, his absence due to ongoing international commitments necessitates Justice Muneeb Akhtar’s appointment as Acting Chief Justice tomorrow, ensuring the continuity of judicial leadership and functions within the Supreme Court of Pakistan.
