In a startling event at Tehsil Hospital in Wazirabad, patients were found being examined by a sweeper when the doctor on duty had reportedly fallen asleep.
A video capturing the incident circulated widely on social media, sparking outrage and apprehension.
The incident unfolded as the medical superintendent at Tehsil Hospital nodded off during duty, leading the sweeper to assume the doctor’s responsibilities.
The viral footage unmistakably depicts Abdul Sattar, the hospital sweeper, seated in the doctor’s chair, conducting examinations of patients at THQ Hospital Wazirabad, while the assigned doctor was conspicuously absent from their post.
Exploiting the situation, the sweeper conducted examinations on over a dozen patients, posing as a doctor. Dr. Hassan Tariq, the hospital’s Medical Superintendent, when reached out, claimed no awareness of the sweeper’s involvement in patient check-ups.
It’s noteworthy that a prior incident resembling this occurred at the same hospital, where a video of an office boy performing eye surgeries circulated widely, eliciting grave concerns regarding the hospital’s management and patient welfare.
Authorities are facing severe criticism for their inability to ensure adequate supervision and quality healthcare services at Tehsil Hospital.
The incident has prompted calls for an urgent investigation and stringent measures against those accountable for jeopardizing patient care and safety.
