ISLAMABAD: During the Independence Day celebrations, aerial firing in various areas of Karachi led to the unfortunate demise of two individuals, while over 80 people suffered injuries.
To mark the 77th Independence Day of Pakistan, revelers engaged in midnight aerial firing.
Rescue sources reported that the firing incidents occurred in different localities, including Lyari, Garden, Landhi, Korangi, Mehmoodabad, New Karachi, Bilal Colony, and Garden, resulting in more than 80 injuries.
In a separate incident, a woman lost her life when a bullet struck her from an undisclosed direction in the Numaish Chowrangi area of the city.
Rescue sources conveyed that 24 injured individuals were transported to Civil Hospital, 29 to Jinnah Hospital, and 30 to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital.
As the nation celebrates Independence Day with a renewed commitment to uphold the ideals of the Pakistan Movement and establish a true Islamic welfare state, the day commenced with a thirty-one-gun salute in the federal capital and a twenty-one-gun salute at provincial headquarters.
To ensure the maintenance of law and order during the celebrations, the police meticulously formulated a comprehensive security plan. In addition to law enforcement personnel, deployment of Dolphin Force, special branch, and elite forces had been arranged across cities to swiftly address instances of aerial firing, individuals engaged in dangerous stunts such as wheelies or noisy bike riding, vendors of loud toy horns, and those utilizing them.
