ISLAMABAD: To protect Islamabad in advance of the PTI’s probable long march and sit-in as well as to uphold law and order throughout the approaching protest, the federal cabinet has authorised a supplemental grant for the Interior Ministry worth Rs410 million.

On Tuesday, the federal cabinet met under the leadership of the prime minister, Shehbaz Sharif. The federal interior minister informed the gathering of the government’s plans to maintain the status quo of law and order in the federal capital throughout the PTI protest.

As Imran Khan prepares to start up a protest movement against the government, the cabinet discussed ways to contain the country’s escalating political conflict. The interior ministry has already gathered a large number of shipping containers to secure key locations in the federal capital. Thousands of police, paratroopers, and FC personnel have arrived from across the country to prevent PTI supporters from entering Islamabad.
