RAWALPINDI: Sheikh Rasheed, the leader of the Awami Muslim League (AML), has been given a seven-day notice to quit Lal Haveli by the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB).
Sheikh Rasheed and his brother, according to the ETPB’s ruling, have “illegally” inhabited seven homes, including Lal Haveli. Despite numerous opportunities, the APML CEO and his brother both declined to submit pertinent paperwork regarding the property.
The ETPB ordered the former interior minister and his brother to leave the properties, including Lal Haveli, within seven days after rejecting the AML chief’s request for the transfer and regularisation of the assets.
According to the verdict, the hearing was adjourned several times at Sheikh Rasheed’s request to present the property documents, but he failed.
According to the verdict, the ETPB has decided to retake control of the properties in accordance with the Supreme Court’s directions.
Prior to partition, Lal Haveli belonged to a Hindu woman and was converted into Sheikh Rasheed’s political office in 1980, after he entered parliamentary politics.
Rasheed has previously received notices from ETPB; he stated that he had been served with eviction papers in October 2016.
Rasheed, according to the board’s regional administrator, received a notification for an occupied parcel of land next to the AML chief’s place of business.
