distribution of e-bikes among students by the Punjab government has been prohibited

According to the News, the Lahore High Court has issued an order halting the Punjab government’s distribution of electric bikes to students across the province. The court’s decision was made during a hearing concerning measures to combat smog.

The LHC has mandated that the distribution of electric bikes, which was scheduled through a lucky draw, be suspended until further orders from the court. Additionally, the court has summoned detailed information from the Punjab government regarding the extent and execution of the initiative by May 13.

Furthermore, the court has requested a comprehensive report from the government outlining the number of electric bikes being distributed and the cities in which they are being distributed.

Additionally, the court noted that the government should consider implementing electric buses to mitigate environmental pollution.

It is worth mentioning that CM Maryam Nawaz initiated the project to provide 20,000 bikes under the Chief Minister Youth Initiative on April 12.

Under this initiative led by CM Punjab, Maryam Nawaz, students can obtain motorcycles and e-bikes through convenient monthly installment plans. Male students have the option to pay Rs 11,676 per month, while female students can avail the offer at Rs 7,325 per month.

The allocation will be divided equally between male and female students in urban areas. In rural areas, 70% of the allocation will be reserved for male students and 30% for female students.
