KARACHI: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) apprehended a Brazilian woman at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Thursday for attempting to smuggle cocaine.
According to ANF officials, the woman arrived via a private airline and was found in possession of 1.396 kilograms of cocaine, valued at approximately Rs13.9 million. The drugs were concealed in plastic bags.
A case has been registered against the suspect under the Anti-Narcotics Act.
This incident follows a similar case in October when a passenger, Iqbal Hussain, was arrested at Peshawar Airport while attempting to board a flight to Jeddah. He was carrying 1.21 kilograms of ICE (crystal methamphetamine) hidden within the inner layers of his luggage.
Authorities also previously intercepted two passengers smuggling a total of 2.376 kilograms of ICE, skillfully concealed within luggage and sweets.
In both cases, Airport Security Force (ASF) personnel recovered the drugs during inspections and handed over the suspects and evidence to the ANF for further legal proceedings.
