Amir Khan Receives Honorary Captain Rank from Pakistan Army

Amir Khan

British-Pakistani boxer Amir Khan was bestowed with the honorary rank of captain by the Pakistan Army following his meeting with Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir.

Khan, renowned for his numerous global boxing titles, visited Gen Munir at the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi today, accompanied by martial arts champion Shahzaib Rind, who gained recognition for his swift victory over Indian fighter Rana Singh in the ‘Karate Combat’ event in Dubai last month, as reported by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

During the meeting, the army chief commended the athletes for their remarkable achievements in the realm of sports and expressed confidence in the exceptional potential of Pakistan’s youth, as highlighted by the military’s media wing.

Khan took to his Instagram account to share his gratitude, posting a video of himself donning the Pakistan Army uniform along with photos from the occasion.

In one image, he could be seen enthusiastically chanting the slogan “Pakistan Zindabad” in the traditional style of military officers.

Another photo depicted Khan receiving a guard of honour from impeccably dressed contingents of soldiers at the GHQ.

Expressing his joy while en route to the army headquarters, Khan conveyed his appreciation for being honored with the rank of captain and extended his thanks to the Pakistan Army.

Clarifying the nature of the honor to his fans, Khan emphasized that it was merely an honorary title bestowed upon him by his homeland, Pakistan.

He reiterated his deep affection for the people of Pakistan and the nation as a whole, while also affirming his non-involvement in political matters.

This gesture by the Pakistan Army signifies the recognition and appreciation of Khan’s contributions to sports and serves as a testament to the strong bond between the athlete and his homeland.
