President Dr. Arif Alvi used his office on Wednesday to advocate for talks between all relevant parties to determine a date for general elections.
His remarks came the same day Governor Haji Ghulam Ali dissolved Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Assembly.
The Punjab Assembly has already been dissolved, and the opposition Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has accepted the resignations of 35 of its members.
The country’s dominant coalition, the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), has remained steadfast in its commitment to holding general elections on time.
On the other hand:
Imran Khan has made it clear that elections will be held in April 2023.
Elections for the two assemblies that Imran steadfastly dissolved are expected to take place in April,
So Imran’s true wish for general elections remains elusive.
Dr. Alvi, who was acting as a go-between, suggested that all parties involved start talking about the timing of the elections.
Dr. Alvi praised the establishment’s decision to remain politically neutral.
And avoid getting involved in politics while speaking to business leaders and traders at Aiwan-e-Sadr on Wednesday.
He advised political forces to seize this opportunity.
Dr. Alvi acknowledged the nation’s current crisis.
He stated:
All institutions, including the legislature, courts, government, and traders, must work together to save Pakistan.
Everyone in the country must be committed and work hard to achieve political, economic, and financial stability.
He contended that Pakistan’s democracy needed to grow stronger by the day.
