A doctor has been included in the Pakistani delegation set to visit the U.S. to advocate for the repatriation of Aafia Siddiqui

The delegation set to visit the U.S. includes Minister Talha Mehmood, Dr. Fauzia Siddiqui, former Minister Anusha Rehman, and a doctor. This follows a hearing at the Islamabad High Court regarding Dr. Fauzia’s petition for the recovery and repatriation of her sister, Aafia Siddiqui.

During the session, Attorney General Mansoor Usman Awan provided updates on the government’s efforts, announcing plans for a four-member team to travel to the U.S. after the upcoming elections to advocate for Aafia’s release. The delegation is expected to meet with U.S. officials within the next two weeks to explore repatriation options.

Justice Sardar Ijaz Ishaq Khan appointed Zainab Janjua Advocate as the focal person for both sides and confirmed the doctor’s visa status, which Dr. Fawzia confirmed had been secured. Attorney General Awan expressed optimism about the potential for constructive dialogue during the trip. The case has been adjourned until the end of November to assess further developments in this diplomatic effort.
