KARACHI: ‘Under Section 39 of the SHCC regulations 2017, Directorate of Anti Quackery (DAQ) in Karachi has the power to inspect any health care institution, seize any or all evidence and seal/close down any premises where ‘quackery’ is being practiced in any form whatsoever,” said Zeeshan Shah, Director of DAQ, Karachi.
Under the FOS (feet on street) plan, the Directorate recently took swift action across the province, conducting over 150 raids across Karachi, Sukkur and Larkana, issuing 64 warnings and sealing 22 premises. Out of the total, 78 premises were found in compliance of the regulations.

‘Effective collaboration with law enforcement agencies is the way forward, said Director – Anti Quackery, Syed Zeeshan Ali Shah.
The Directorate conducted a special joint operation with SBBA- Sind Blood Bank Association on the directives of Sind Health Minister and also sealed one blood bank in Larkana city, in violation of the SHCC rules of conduct.
Zeeshan Shah lauded the efforts of Senior Law enforcement personnel. ‘We thank our external stakeholders and their teams for effective coordination and support provided during the course of the operation and look forward to more pro-active action as one team to eradicate ‘quackery’ practices in the province.
