At least 23 police officers were injured in a violent confrontation with Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters on the Ghazi Bharutha Bridge in Attock, as reported by police officials on Saturday. The altercation unfolded when PTI workers, reportedly part of a convoy accompanying party leader and former Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur, allegedly clashed with law enforcement officers during the night.
The police confirmed that the workers attempted to breach security measures and cross the bridge, despite an imposed restriction on movement. This led to a violent confrontation with the police, resulting in multiple injuries. The wounded officers were immediately rushed to local hospitals for medical attention.
To contain the escalating situation, additional police reinforcements have been deployed to the area. Authorities are working to restore order and ensure that further disturbances are prevented.
An investigation is currently underway to identify the individuals responsible for inciting the violence. The authorities have vowed to take strict legal action against those involved in the altercation.
