Pakistan will celebrate Independence Day tomorrow with national enthusiasm and renewed commitment to the Pakistan Movement’s ideals.
A grand programme will take place at Yaadgar-e-Fatah in Islamabad tonight. The event will showcase Pakistan’s cultural heritage and journey since independence.
Nationwide Celebrations Planned
The day will begin with a 31-gun salute in Islamabad. Provincial capitals will mark the occasion with 21-gun salutes.
Mosques will hold special prayers after Fajr for peace, solidarity and national prosperity. President Asif Ali Zardari will hoist the national flag in Islamabad.
Similar ceremonies will take place across provincial, divisional and district headquarters. Meanwhile, buildings, streets and markets have received colourful Independence Day decorations.
Cities and towns now feature national flags, buntings and decorative lights. Authorities have also arranged seminars, exhibitions and cultural programmes across the country.
AJK Prepares For Independence Day
Independence Day celebrations will also take place in Azad Jammu and Kashmir. Muzaffarabad will begin the day with a 21-gun salute.
Special prayers will seek peace, prosperity and solidarity for the country. Prayers will also call for the early liberation of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
Sirens will sound at 7:59am, followed by one minute of silence. Traffic will also stop across roads during the one-minute observance.
Flag-hoisting ceremonies will take place throughout AJK’s districts. The AJK prime minister will also lay a floral wreath at the Shuhada monument.
Meanwhile, ISPR has released a national song titled “Mera Pyara Watan Pakistan.” The song highlights national unity and love for the country.
