Actress Reflects on Childhood, Emotional Distance, and Family Bond
Pakistani actress and writer Mira Sethi has shared a heartfelt reflection on her relationship with her parents. She revealed that emotional closeness with them developed only in recent years after a long period of distance.
During her appearance on Excuse Me with Ahmad Ali Butt, Mira discussed her childhood with renowned journalists Najam Sethi and Jugnu Mohsin. She explained that her parents always supported her. However, their demanding professional lives left limited time for emotional connection during her early years.
Mira said her bond with her parents became stronger after she moved back to their home. She explained that life experiences helped them understand each other better.
She shared, “My relationship with my parents grew close in the last five years because life happened, and I moved back to their home. They held space for me. They were busy their whole lives internally, externally they were very career oriented. Seeing them confident and resilient gave me and Ali the confidence to become who we are today. But the emotional closeness only came in the last five years.”
Honest Conversations Helped Bring Emotional Healing
Mira explained that her understanding of childhood psychology changed as she grew older. While reading about emotional development, she realized how strongly early experiences influence a person’s feelings and relationships.
This realization encouraged her to have open discussions with her parents. She talked about how their absence affected her during childhood. According to Mira, these conversations helped both sides understand each other better.
She revealed that her parents responded with honesty and acceptance. Her father apologized for being unavailable due to his busy lifestyle.
Mira shared, “My dad said, ‘I’m really sorry. I was too busy. Your mother and I led very hectic lives,'”
She added that her mother also expressed regret and wanted to rebuild the lost connection.
