YouTube Star Shares First Photos From Private Ceremony
YouTube star MrBeast has surprised millions of followers by announcing his marriage to longtime partner Thea Booysen.
The content creator, whose real name is Jimmy Donaldson, shared the first photographs from their private wedding on Tuesday, July 21.
“I found MrsBeast,” he wrote while describing the ceremony as the best day of his life.
Booysen shared the same photographs on her account and updated her social media name to Thea Donaldson.
The images showed the newlyweds celebrating against a tropical island backdrop.
Donaldson wore a white dinner jacket with dark trousers and a matching floral detail. Booysen wore a custom white wedding gown featuring an elegant fitted design.
The couple married during a private celebration at Necker Island, the Caribbean resort owned by businessman Richard Branson.
Around 70 family members and close friends attended the week-long gathering, which began on July 14.
A family friend and ordained minister conducted the wedding ceremony. Guests also participated in activities including swimming, snorkelling and kitesurfing during their stay.
Couple Chose Privacy Over a Major Online Production
The wedding was noticeably different from MrBeast’s usual high-budget YouTube productions.
Donaldson is known for elaborate competitions, expensive challenges and videos watched by hundreds of millions of people.
However, he had previously said that his wedding would remain private and would not become a filmed entertainment project.
The couple reportedly allowed only their professional wedding photographer to document the ceremony.
Donaldson wore a Ralph Lauren tuxedo during the main ceremony, while Booysen selected a custom gown from Nicole + Felicia Couture.
The reception included live entertainment, sushi, Wagyu beef and a carrot wedding cake chosen because it is one of Booysen’s favourites.
The newlyweds reportedly shared their first dance to a song by Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars.
The private celebration reflected the couple’s desire to separate their personal milestone from Donaldson’s highly public career.
Booysen described the gathering as an emotional week filled with close friends and relatives.
She said having both families together was particularly meaningful because their professional schedules often leave little time for extended gatherings.
MrBeast Had Already Teased His Wedding Plans
Fans began suspecting that the wedding was taking place after Donaldson missed a scheduled YouTube upload.
On July 11, he posted a playful message saying there would be no new video because he might be getting married and was slightly occupied.
The post quickly generated speculation among followers.
His official announcement confirmed that the comment had been more than a joke.
The couple had planned to keep the event small despite Donaldson’s enormous online following and international celebrity status.
Donaldson had previously explained that he wanted the wedding to focus on relatives and close friends rather than cameras and public attention.
He said the event would give him an opportunity to step away from work and enjoy an important personal moment.
Their Relationship Began With a Chance Meeting
MrBeast and Booysen first met in 2022 while Donaldson was visiting South Africa.
A mutual friend invited Booysen to join a dinner attended by the YouTube creator.
Booysen later said she was surprised by how intelligent and grounded Donaldson appeared in person.
The pair connected through their shared interest in learning and soon began communicating online.
They initially maintained a long-distance relationship and arranged visits between South Africa and the United States.
The couple made one of their earliest public appearances together at the Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards in April 2022.
Donaldson proposed on Christmas Day in 2024 while both families were present.
He reportedly created a distraction using a large gift box before presenting the real box containing the engagement ring.
The engagement was later announced publicly in January 2025.
In the months before the wedding, Booysen shared photographs from her celebrations, including a bridal trip to Italy.
However, the couple kept the ceremony’s exact location and details private until the official announcement.
The first wedding photographs quickly spread across social media as fans and fellow creators congratulated the newlyweds.
