Sindh Police have recovered journalist Azeem Siyal, who went missing from Ghotki two days earlier, officials said on Tuesday. Siyal works for a private television channel. His disappearance had prompted concern among journalists and led to protests demanding his safe recovery.
Journalist Recovered After Two-Day Search
Police launched efforts to trace Siyal after he disappeared on September 27, 2026.
His vehicle was later found abandoned near Sidoja, within the limits of Sukkur district. Police took the vehicle into custody and began investigating the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Following the discovery, a large number of police personnel were deployed in the Sidoja area. Officers continued searching for the journalist while investigating possible leads.
Authorities eventually recovered Siyal after the two-day search operation.
However, police have not yet disclosed detailed information about where they found him or the circumstances surrounding his disappearance.
Home Minister Praises Police Efforts
Sindh Home Minister Zia Lanjar praised senior police officials for their efforts to locate and recover the journalist. Lanjar specifically acknowledged the work of the DIGs of Larkana and Sukkur and the SSPs of Ghotki, Shikarpur and Sukkur.
In his message, the home minister said providing security to citizens remains a fundamental responsibility of the police.
He also praised the officers involved in the operation and their efforts to ensure Siyal’s safe recovery.

Siyal’s disappearance had also triggered a protest by journalists in Ghotki. Journalists staged a sit-in on the national highway, demanding immediate action from authorities. The demonstration caused long queues of vehicles and disrupted traffic between Sindh and Punjab.
The protesters had called for Siyal’s safe recovery and urged authorities to take immediate steps to locate him.
With Siyal now recovered, police are expected to investigate the circumstances surrounding his disappearance and determine what happened during the two days he remained missing.
