Police investigating the murder of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza have obtained a mobile SIM registered in his name.
Investigators plan to use the SIM to access Raza’s WhatsApp account and retrieve available backup data. The move could provide further information as the murder investigation continues.
Police Obtain SIM Registered to Mir Raza
The SIM was transferred to Raza’s mother after police made a formal request. The process followed biometric verification and the completion of other required documentation.
Investigators will now use the SIM as part of efforts to access Raza’s WhatsApp account. They are particularly interested in retrieving backup data linked to the account.
The digital information could help investigators examine Raza’s communications before his death. However, the investigation remains ongoing, and authorities have not disclosed any conclusions from the data.
Investigators Examine Messages Sent Before Death
The investigation team has also obtained WhatsApp messages that Raza reportedly sent to close friends before his death.
According to investigators, some of those messages referred to his financial and domestic circumstances. Therefore, police are examining the conversations for information that could help establish events before the murder.
The messages may also assist investigators in understanding Raza’s circumstances during the period leading up to his death. However, no further details about their contents have been disclosed.
Security Guard’s Statement Recorded
Meanwhile, investigators have expanded their inquiry by recording the statement of a security guard.
The guard works at a residential building located near the crime scene. His statement could help investigators establish details surrounding the area and events connected to the case.
Earlier, investigators had also recorded statements from several people associated with a nearby mosque. These included the prayer leader, the muezzin and members of the mosque’s management committee.
Police are continuing to examine statements alongside digital evidence gathered during the investigation. The inquiry remains focused on establishing the circumstances surrounding Mir Raza’s death.
