Victimโs Sister Raises Security Alarm After Returning From Protest
The murder case of young Karachi businessman Mir Raza Ali Khan has taken another disturbing turn after his sister alleged that the familyโs police security was withdrawn without notice and that suspicious vehicles later followed them.
In an emergency video message shared late Friday night, Mir Razaโs sister said the family had no major new information about the murder investigation itself.
However, she said an incident involving unidentified vehicles had created serious concerns about the familyโs safety.
The video was dated August 22, 2026, marking Day 24 of the familyโs campaign for justice.
According to her account, police personnel from a nearby station had previously been assigned to protect the family.
She claimed that the security detail disappeared a day earlier without any prior notification.
The family contacted police to raise the issue after noticing that the personnel were no longer present, she said.
The situation became more concerning when family members were returning from a protest demanding justice for Mir Raza.
His sister alleged that their vehicle appeared to be followed as they approached their neighbourhood.
She said another vehicle overtook their car, slowed down and then attempted to make a U-turn in circumstances she considered suspicious.
The family reportedly avoided entering the street immediately and instead returned to a main road.
They then took several turns in an attempt to determine whether the vehicle was following them.
The claims regarding the vehicles have not been independently verified, and police had not publicly confirmed the alleged withdrawal of security at the time of the report.
Family Says Two White Vehicles Were Seen Near Their Home
The sister said the situation became more alarming after receiving a telephone call from her mother.
According to her account, her mother informed her that a white vehicle was parked inside the familyโs street.
The family was accompanied by motorcyclists who had been travelling with them after the protest.
She claimed that the suspicious vehicle left the street only after the accompanying riders arrived.
The family identified two vehicles they considered suspicious.
One was described as a white Toyota Land Cruiser V8, while the other was identified as a white Toyota Corolla Axio.
There is currently no independent evidence publicly establishing who owned the vehicles, who was travelling inside them or whether they were connected to the Mir Raza investigation.
The sister said her father subsequently contacted a senior official to report the security concerns.
A police mobile reportedly arrived within approximately 15 to 20 minutes.
She said police personnel were present near the familyโs residence when she recorded the emergency video message.
The incident has renewed questions about protection for the family as they continue publicly campaigning for answers over Mir Razaโs death.
Mir Raza Murder Investigation Remains Under Intense Scrutiny
Mir Raza Ali Khan, a 25-year-old businessman and former IBA student, disappeared on July 28.
His body was recovered the following day from bushes in Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Karachi.
Early police inquiries considered several possibilities surrounding his death. However, his family consistently maintained that Mir Raza had been abducted and murdered.
The case later attracted wider scrutiny after serious questions were raised about the original post-mortem examination.
Karachi Police Surgeon Dr Summaiya Syed identified 14 shortcomings in the initial autopsy, including the absence of X-rays, gunshot residue testing and other forensic procedures. She said the original report raised more questions than answers.
The Sindh government subsequently decided to seek a judicial inquiry into Mir Razaโs death as public pressure over the case intensified.
Investigators have also continued examining CCTV footage and digital evidence.
Recent footage reportedly helped establish a timeline showing when Mir Razaโs body was discovered and when police and emergency services reached the location.
Another review of CCTV footage reportedly showed a police mobile, motorcycles and another vehicle near the area where Mir Razaโs body was later recovered, prompting investigators to examine movements around the location more closely.
The investigation continued this week when the probe team met the Karachi police surgeon to examine evidence obtained following the exhumation of Mir Razaโs body and to discuss concerns surrounding the original post-mortem examination.
The latest security allegations now add another layer to an already complex and closely watched case.
Mir Razaโs family continues to demand a transparent investigation and accountability for those responsible for his death.
At the same time, the allegation that the familyโs security was withdrawn shortly before they noticed suspicious vehicles is likely to increase pressure on authorities to explain the protection arrangements.
Until police verify the vehicles and issue an official account, however, the claims should be treated as allegations made by the victimโs family rather than established facts.
