Passengers Escape as Emergency Teams Launch Rescue Operation
A metro bus caught fire at Sixth Road on Saturday while travelling from Islamabad, creating panic among passengers and forcing authorities to temporarily suspend metro bus operations on the affected route.
According to rescue officials, the fire broke out suddenly while the bus was moving along the metro track near Sixth Road. The unexpected incident caused immediate concern among passengers, who quickly attempted to leave the vehicle before the situation worsened.
Reports indicated that some passengers broke the bus windows to escape safely before rescue personnel reached the scene. Meanwhile, emergency teams responded rapidly and began rescue and evacuation operations immediately after receiving information about the incident.
Authorities confirmed that all passengers safely exited the bus without reports of major injuries during the evacuation process.
Furthermore, more than 12 rescue personnel and four emergency vehicles participated in the operation to secure the area and contain the fire.
Authorities Investigate Cause as Commuters Face Service Disruption
Rescue officials stated that firefighters later managed to control the blaze after extensive efforts at the location. However, authorities confirmed that the fire completely destroyed the metro bus.
Preliminary findings suggested that a possible short circuit may have triggered the incident, although investigators continued examining the exact cause.
Consequently, authorities suspended metro bus operations temporarily along the affected section to ensure public safety and facilitate clearing work.
Additionally, officials closed ticket counters at nearby metro stations during the emergency response process.
The administration stated that services would resume only after authorities completed track clearance activities and conducted detailed safety inspections.
Meanwhile, large numbers of commuters remained stranded at stations as they waited for transport operations to restart.
Officials also urged passengers to follow safety instructions while authorities continued monitoring the situation and restoration efforts.
