LAHORE: Chief Minister of Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif left for China today for a four-day official visit. CM Punjab’s visit focuses on boosting bilateral ties with Xinjiang, China.
Chinese Consul General Sun Yang saw off the chief minister at the airport before her departure today.
Maryam Nawaz is landing at Urumqi International Airport. Senior officials from China will welcome her.
Key Meetings in Xinjiang
After her arrival, the chief minister will begin official engagements at Kunlun Hall in the Xinjiang State Guest House conference centre.
During the visit, Maryam will meet a high-level delegation led by Xinjiang Party Secretary Chen Xiaojiang.
She will also meet He Zhongyou, Deputy Party Secretary of the Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Regional Committee.
In addition, she is scheduled to meet representatives of the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps.
Focus on Bilateral Cooperation
The meetings will focus on strengthening cooperation between Punjab and Xinjiang across areas of mutual interest.
Meanwhile, senior Xinjiang officials will host a formal dinner for Maryam Nawaz and the Punjab delegation.
The chief minister will stay at the Xinjiang State Guest House as a state guest throughout her four-day visit.
The visit reflects Punjabโs efforts to deepen cooperation with Chinese regions and expand opportunities for collaboration.
