Suspect Taken Into Custody
A 44-year-old man has been arrested after a shooting outside the York Mosque and Islamic Centre in England.
The incident happened on Thursday near the mosque on Bull Lane in York, North Yorkshire.
North Yorkshire Police confirmed that no one was injured during the incident.
Police said the arrested man is a local white British resident. He remains in custody while officers continue their investigation.
Investigators believe an air weapon, possibly an air gun, may have been used in the shooting.
The suspect allegedly left the scene in a silver-coloured vehicle. Police later traced the vehicle and arrested him.
Police Investigate Possible Motive
North Yorkshire Police described the shooting as a concerning incident.
Officers said it was too early to determine why the mosque was targeted. Investigators are working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the case.
Police also reassured York’s Muslim community that the incident was being treated seriously.
No official motive has been confirmed.
Security Increased Around Mosque
Police patrols around the York Mosque and Islamic Centre will be increased, especially during prayer times.
Officers are also expected to meet the mosque’s imam and other community representatives.
