ISLAMABAD: Several major highways and motorways are being shut down from today evening ahead of the PTI’s long march.
The M-1 motorway will close in both directions between the Islamabad Toll Plaza and Chachh Interchange.
Several M-1 interchanges will also remain closed during the traffic restrictions.
These include Fateh Jang, Tarnol, Sangjani, Brahma Bahtar, Burhan, Hazara Motorway and Ghazi interchanges.
M-14 motorway also faces closure
Meanwhile, the M-14 motorway will close in both directions between Hakla and Kundal from Wednesday evening.
The closure will affect several interchanges along the route.
These include Fateh Jang, Pindi Gheb, Khurpa, Tarap, Daud Khel, Kot Balian and Isa Khel interchanges.
The Motorway Police also announced restrictions on the GT Road, or N-5, at Attock Khurd.
The road will remain closed in both directions from Wednesday evening, according to the traffic advisory.
The closures will affect motorists travelling between Islamabad, Punjab and nearby districts.
Motorists advised to check traffic updates
The Motorway Police advised citizens to check the latest traffic situation before starting their journeys.
Officials also urged travellers to follow traffic instructions and use alternative routes where necessary.
The authorities have asked motorists to remain alert as the closures could cause delays on connecting roads.
Travellers should therefore confirm the latest road conditions before leaving for their destinations.
The Motorway Police will issue further updates if the traffic situation changes or authorities reopen the affected routes.
