Households relying on liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) will face higher costs from November after OGRA announced a fresh price increase. The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority has raised the official LPG rate by Rs14.73 per kilogram.
The revised prices will take effect on November 1, according to the regulator’s notification issued on Saturday. However, the difference between official rates and prevailing market prices remains a concern for consumers.
OGRA Sets New LPG Price for November
Under the revised rates, OGRA has fixed the LPG price at Rs294 per kilogram for November. The increase also affects domestic cylinder prices, adding to household cooking expenses.
A standard 11.8-kilogram LPG cylinder will now cost Rs3,470.09. This represents an increase of Rs173.86 compared with the previous notified price.
The latest adjustment means families using LPG will have to allocate more money for their monthly fuel requirements. Moreover, households without access to other cooking fuels may feel the impact more directly.
Market Prices Far Above Official Rates
Despite OGRA’s revised rate, LPG prices in markets across Pakistan reportedly range between Rs520 and Rs600 per kilogram.
These market prices stand considerably above the regulator’s notified rate of Rs294 per kilogram. Consequently, consumers may continue paying substantially more than the officially announced price.
The gap has raised questions about the implementation of OGRA’s pricing decisions and possible overcharging. Although the regulator has announced a fixed rate, consumers are still reporting much higher market prices.
Higher Costs Add Pressure on Households
The November increase comes as LPG remains an important cooking fuel for many households. Therefore, the higher per-kilogram rate and cylinder price could further strain domestic budgets.
For consumers purchasing LPG at prevailing market rates, the financial impact may be even greater. The difference between official and market prices also highlights concerns about consumer protection and price enforcement.
With the new rates taking effect from November 1, households will now face another increase in cooking fuel expenses.
