Five-Day Workplaces to Benefit Most
According to the 2026 calendar, August 14 will be observed as a public holiday throughout Pakistan. Employees working in government departments and private companies that follow a five-day workweek will remain off on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
Similarly, students studying at schools, colleges and universities with a Monday-to-Friday timetable will also enjoy a three-day weekend. The extended break will allow many people to take part in Independence Day celebrations across the country.
Six-Day Schedule Will Continue
However, the holiday arrangement will differ for organisations that operate six days a week. Employees working from Monday to Saturday will return to work on Saturday after the public holiday.
Likewise, students attending educational institutions with a six-day academic schedule will resume classes on Saturday. Therefore, they will not receive three consecutive holidays.
