Waseem Abbas Defends Fahad Mustafa’s Stardom
Veteran Pakistani actor Waseem Abbas has criticised YouTubers Rajab Butt and Ducky Bhai over their controversial remarks about leading television stars Fahad Mustafa and Bushra Ansari.
Speaking during a recent interview, Waseem questioned Rajab’s reported claim that he did not know who Fahad Mustafa was.
Waseem said it was difficult to believe that a major Pakistani content creator could be unaware of Fahad’s position in the entertainment industry.
He described Fahad as one of Pakistan’s biggest television and film stars. He then jokingly suggested that anyone unfamiliar with him must have been “living in a jungle.”
Rajab’s remark had previously attracted attention after he reportedly said he did not know Fahad while responding to comments linked to the television star. The exchange quickly became part of a wider online dispute between mainstream celebrities and digital influencers.
Waseem argued that personal disagreements should not lead people to dismiss the achievements of established performers.
He said Fahad had spent years building a successful career as an actor, host and producer. Such professional standing could not be erased through a casual social media response.
Actor Criticises Ducky Bhai’s Bushra Ansari Comment
Waseem also reacted strongly to Ducky Bhai’s reported claim that he did not know veteran actress Bushra Ansari.
He said he was particularly disappointed by the remark because Bushra had dedicated several decades to Pakistan’s television industry.
Waseem argued that younger creators should recognise the contribution of senior artists, even when they disagree with their opinions.
Ducky Bhai’s comment had sparked criticism from several entertainment personalities and social media users. Critics described Bushra as an industry legend and viewed the statement as disrespectful.
Waseem said Bushra’s earlier comments about TikTokers and digital content creators should be understood within their proper context.
According to him, she was expressing the viewpoint of artists who worked for years before receiving recognition, financial success and public influence.
Traditional television performers often faced long auditions, limited opportunities and years of professional struggle. Digital platforms now allow some creators to gain enormous audiences within a much shorter period.
Waseem said Bushra’s comments reflected that generational difference. He argued that they should not have been treated as a personal attack against specific creators.
Even when someone disagrees with a senior performer, Waseem said, the response should remain respectful and proportionate.
Television Versus Digital Creators Debate Intensifies
The controversy has revived the ongoing debate between Pakistan’s traditional entertainment industry and its rapidly growing community of YouTubers, TikTokers and online influencers.
Established actors often argue that television and film careers require professional training, discipline and years of work.
Digital creators respond that online success also demands consistency, creativity and a strong understanding of changing audiences.
Social media has reduced the control once held by television networks and production companies. Creators can now build independent audiences without entering the conventional entertainment system.
This change has created new opportunities. It has also produced tension over fame, influence and professional legitimacy.
Waseem did not reject the success of digital creators. His criticism focused on what he considered unnecessary disrespect toward senior television personalities.
He suggested that both industries could exist together without dismissing each other’s achievements.
The interview gained attention across social media, where users offered mixed reactions.
Some supported Waseem and said Rajab and Ducky should show greater respect toward senior performers.
Others argued that knowing a celebrity should not be compulsory and said digital creators had the right to respond to criticism from television personalities.
The debate shows how Pakistan’s entertainment landscape is changing. Television stars and online creators now compete for the same viewers, advertising opportunities and cultural influence.
Waseem’s remarks have added another prominent voice to that discussion, placing respect for senior artists at the centre of the controversy.
