A 17-year-old boy was injured after being attacked by a lion at a businessman’s outhouse in Kharian, Punjab.
The incident occurred in the Thapla area of Kharian.
According to reports, Zakariya Butt, a resident of Sattarpura, was taken to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Kharian on Thursday.
He had sustained injuries during the attack.
Doctors Initially Mistook Injuries for Dog Bite
Doctors at the hospital initially treated Butt’s injuries as a dog bite.
He was later referred to Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH) for further treatment.
At the hospital, Butt told doctors that a lion had attacked and injured him at the outhouse.
According to reports, the teenager had gone to the property with a friend to see lions being kept there.
Doctors treated his injuries and said he was out of danger.
Wildlife Department Takes Lions Into Custody
Following the incident, a team from the Wildlife Department visited the outhouse.
Officials took the lions into custody after investigating the incident.
The department also registered a case against the owner of the animals.
Saddar Kharian police separately registered a case against the outhouse owner.
The case was filed under relevant sections of the Pakistan Penal Code and the Punjab Wildlife (Protection, Preservation, Conservation and Management) Act, 1974.
Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the lion attack and the keeping of the animals at the private property.
