A leaked audio message attributed to former Khyber Pakhtunkhwa chief minister Ali Amin Gandapur has exposed tensions between him and his successor, Sohail Afridi. The recording, reportedly shared in Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) parliamentary party WhatsApp group, contains sharp criticism of Afridi and his handling of past political events.
Gandapur Challenges Afridi’s Appointment
In the audio, Gandapur reportedly calls Afridi “Made in China” and questions how he secured the chief minister’s position. He challenges Afridi to explain who brought him into office and warns that releasing his records could expose several people.
Gandapur also says he has remained silent because of his loyalty to PTI founder Imran Khan and the party. However, he argues that the remarks directed at him have crossed a line and cannot go unanswered.
Dispute Over November 2025 Protest
The disagreement reportedly centres on comments attributed to Afridi about the November 26, 2025, protest during Gandapur’s tenure as chief minister. Afridi allegedly described the protest as a “fixed match,” prompting a strong response from his predecessor.
In the leaked recording, Gandapur accuses Afridi of failing to carry out a planned move during the protest. He further alleges that Afridi had reached an understanding with certain people and had been “managed.”
These statements remain allegations contained in the leaked recording. The available report does not independently establish the claims made by either side.
Allegations Over Party Leadership
Gandapur also accuses Afridi of leaving Bushra Bibi alone during the protest and playing a role in restricting meetings between Imran Khan, his wife and relatives or party leaders at Adiala Jail.
He says he possesses records relating to these matters and could make them public if necessary. The former chief minister also criticises people he considers ungrateful and urges his critics to focus on their own responsibilities and performance.
The leaked audio has added another dimension to tensions within PTI as the party continues its political campaign for Imran Khan’s release. Neither the authenticity of the recording nor the allegations within it should be treated as independently verified based solely on the reported audio.
