Veteran actor and director Khalid Saleem Butt passed away in Lahore on Thursday night at the age of 76. The cause of death, as reported by APP, was complications from liver and kidney-related diseases.
Butt embarked on his illustrious career in the 70s, making a mark in both Urdu and Punjabi films, as well as TV series. His most recent project was the on-air drama “Khaie,” in which he portrayed the father of Faysal Quraishi. In addition to his acting prowess, Butt also directed a film and received the prestigious Pride of Performance award for his significant contributions to the arts.
Renowned for his work in PTV productions such as “Jangal Pura” (1997), “Boota to Toba Tek Singh” (1999), and “Landa Bazaar” (2002), Butt’s impact on the industry was widely recognized.
Condolences flooded social media from fellow actors mourning the loss of the talented artist. Faysal Quraishi, his co-star in “Khaie,” shared a heartfelt video on Instagram, reminiscing about their shared journey. They had previously worked together in “Boota to Toba Tek Singh,” and Quraishi reflected on Butt’s resilience during the shoot despite his health struggles.
Other actors, including Hina Khawaja Bayat, Sami Khan, Tipu Sharif, and Saba Qamar, also expressed their condolences online.
