The individual filing the case in the incident involving an underage driver accused of causing the death of six people has denied rumors suggesting a potential secretive agreement.
Rafaqat Ali, the petitioner in this case, released a video statement affirming his refusal to accept any financial compensation in exchange for forgiving the alleged crime. He explicitly stated that there were no ongoing negotiations for such a deal. Instead, Ali expressed his reliance on the police and the judicial system to ensure justice is served and expressed his ongoing hope for a fair resolution.
Earlier, Ali had disclosed that he was facing threats urging him to withdraw the case against the underage driver. The threats reportedly alluded to the well-being of Ali’s family, mentioning his son and three daughters, insinuating potential consequences if he continued with the litigation.
The tragic incident occurred in November of the previous year when Ali and his family were returning from a visit to his daughter’s residence in Lahore’s Defence area. A high-speed collision involving one of their vehicles resulted in the death of six family members.
Ali initiated legal proceedings that led to the apprehension of the underage driver residing in Askari 11. The driver, claiming to be an eighth-grade student, confessed to the police. As per the penal code, negligent drivers jeopardizing lives could face a three-year prison sentence.
