Islamabad bans motorcycles in high-security zone
Meanwhile, the federal government has taken a significant step by issuing instructions to the police and the capital city administration to ban the entry of motorcycles into Islamabad’s high-security zone from November 1. This measure is aimed at enhancing security and traffic control in the area.
Starting from November 1, the city administration and police have decided to restrict motorcycle access in Islamabad. Motorcycles will be directed to park at the Convention Centre, and a shuttle service will operate to transport individuals into the high-security zone.
This decision has been made to manage and control traffic flow within Islamabad’s high-security zone. Alternative routes to and from Bari Imam will be available for the convenience of citizens.
Additionally, it’s worth noting that recent protests in the city have led to clashes between police and demonstrators, particularly in response to issues such as Israel’s actions in the Gaza Strip. In some instances, authorities have taken measures to control protests and public gatherings.
In this context, the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) in Islamabad organized a protest against Israel’s actions in Gaza, and some confrontations with the police occurred during this demonstration. The JI claimed that law enforcement attempted to prevent the protest from taking place.
The decision to restrict motorcycle access to the high-security zone in Islamabad may also be related to maintaining public order and safety during such protests and gatherings.
