Kalat Suicide Attack
A suicide bombing targeted a Frontier Corps (FC) convoy in Balochistan’s Kalat district on Monday, resulting in the martyrdom of one soldier and injuries to four others.
The attack, which took place along the National Highway near the Mughalzai area, was confirmed by Kalat Deputy Commissioner Bilal Shabbir. He stated that the blast was executed by a female suicide bomber who detonated explosives near the passing convoy.
The explosion led to the tragic martyrdom of Naik Attaullah, an FC soldier, while four others—identified as sepoys Vakil, Zayed, Abbas, and Mushtaq—sustained injuries.
Among the wounded, one soldier’s condition has been reported as critical, requiring urgent medical attention. The bodies and the injured were immediately transported to the FC camp, where they received medical assistance.
Following the attack, security forces and Levies personnel swiftly cordoned off the area and launched an investigation into the incident. Authorities are working to gather evidence and determine the perpetrators behind the attack.
Deputy Commissioner Bilal Shabbir further confirmed that the wing commander of the FC convoy remained unharmed during the incident.
The attack has prompted heightened security measures in the area, with law enforcement agencies increasing surveillance and patrolling to prevent further incidents.
The use of a female suicide bomber has raised concerns among security officials, as militant groups have occasionally deployed women in such attacks to evade detection.
No group has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing. However, authorities are treating the attack as part of ongoing militant activity in the region, where security forces have been actively engaged in counterterrorism operations.
In recent years, Balochistan has witnessed a series of attacks targeting security personnel and infrastructure, underscoring the persistent security challenges in the province.
Investigations are ongoing, and authorities are committed to identifying those responsible for orchestrating the attack. The incident has once again highlighted the threats faced by security forces in maintaining peace and stability in Balochistan.
