Sindh Police Launch ‘Talash’ app to Fight Rising Street Crimes

Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ghulam Nabi Memon launched the Talash (search) app at Central Police Office in Karachi, in an attempt to tackle street crime in Karachi with the use of new tech.

At the app’s launch, the regional police chief told the media that it’s going to be an “effective tool” to fight against crime.

The IGP stated that the Talash App would be used as the most effective tool available to combat crime and arrest criminals.

He continued by stating that the device’s goal was to enhance criminal investigation and eradication.

Memon claimed that Murad Ali Shah, the chief minister of Sindh, approved spending money to bolster policing by acquiring “world-class technology” and that a committee had been constituted to provide investigators with current training.

He continued by saying that Sindh Police intended to provide the officials with body cameras and that he wanted the policemen to “work in-camera.”

DIG IT Pervez Chandio, who spoke at the event, said that the “Talash” app’s goal is to combat street crimes. This device can access data via Nadra and other institutions, according to Chandio.

The DIG stated, “Data on 1.5 million criminals across Sindh Province is available in this gadget,” and added that it also contained police officer records, noting that doing so would aid in taking action against imposters.

He described the capabilities of the device and mentioned that the app can also check for false licence plates and licence plates. The programme can also be used to track suspects out on bond.
