KARACHI / ISLAMABAD: Pakistani mountaineer Shehroze Kashif, known for his record-breaking feats, has achieved the summit of Mount Manaslu’s “true summit.” This marks the ascent of the world’s 8th-highest peak, which stands at an elevation of 8,163 meters.
On Wednesday morning, the 21-year-old mountaineer from Lahore, Shehroze Kashif, reached the highest point of Manaslu at 5:01 am PKT, as confirmed by his father Kashif Salman.
With this accomplishment, he has become the youngest Pakistani to successfully summit the “true summit” of Manaslu.
Notably, this marks Shehroze’s second ascent of the mountain in the Nepalese Himalayas. Nepalese mountaineering authorities had initially endorsed his climb in September 2021, but later discovered that it fell just short of the actual summit point.
Despite receiving a certificate for Manaslu, Shehroze decided not to include it in his record and committed to returning to conquer the true summit.
Last week, Shehroze returned to Manaslu and commenced his expedition on Sunday night. He initiated the final ascent last night and reached the peak early in the morning.
Shehroze Kashif holds the distinction of being the world’s youngest climber to summit 12 out of 14 eight-thousanders. His next goals are to ascend Cho Oyu, standing at 8,188 meters and ranking as the world’s sixth-highest mountain, as well as Shishapangma, which reaches 8,027 meters and is the 14th and final eight-thousander. In pursuit of his quest to become the world’s youngest climber to conquer all peaks above 8,000 meters, Shehroze Kashif is expected to travel to China later this month to attempt these two remaining summits.
