ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has taken an active step in contacting leaders of allied parties regarding the caretaker prime minister issue.
PM Sharif has reached out to former president Asif Ali Zardari and PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif. And they have engaged in consultations on the proposed names for the caretaker prime minister and set-up.
The leaders have agreed to follow the Constitution. And the law while completing the process of appointing the caretaker prime minister. Nawaz Sharif and Asif Zardari have also decided to present all the proposed names before the leaders of allied parties.
However, Efforts are underway to promptly address the matter of forming a caretaker set-up. The coalition parties in the government are expected to hold further consultations on the issue today.
Opposition consultation regarding Caretaker PM
The opposition leader in the National Assembly, Raja Riaz, has initiated discussions with opposition parties. Including the Grand Democratic Alliance, the Jamaat-e-Islami, and disgruntled members of the PTI.
During the consultation with opposition leaders, the names of potential caretaker prime ministers were considering.
The next meeting of the opposition parties will convene in the Parliament House on Friday. Raja Riaz has stated that the opposition aims to reach a consensus on three nominees for the caretaker premier by August 8.
After achieving unanimity among the opposition, Raja Riaz will then consult with the prime minister. Regarding the three nominees from each side.
