In a disturbing development along the Line of Control (LoC), two Indian military units engaged in a deadly exchange of fire, resulting in the deaths of five Sikh soldiers. The incident, which occurred during the night of April 25–26, took place in the Japala Bridge area of Baramulla in Indian-administered Kashmir.
Sources indicate that the 185 Battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF) opened fire on troops from the 13 Sikh Light Infantry Regiment of the 12th Brigade during a routine patrol. The cause of the confrontation remains unclear, but the fallout has reportedly led to anger and discontent among soldiers of the Sikh regiment.
Defense analysts have described the clash as indicative of mounting internal strain and operational mismanagement within the Indian Army. They warn that this is not an isolated incident, pointing to previous cases of friendly fire and discipline breakdowns in recent years.
The episode has reignited concerns over the morale and cohesion of Indian forces deployed in conflict-sensitive zones like Kashmir.
Meanwhile, Pakistani defense observers reiterated that the Pakistan Army remains vigilant and fully prepared to counter any threats along its borders, emphasizing the need for regional stability and responsible military conduct.
