ISLAMABAD: Shahid Afridi expressed his heartfelt emotions about his daughter Ansha’s marriage to Pakistan pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi in a heart-touching message.
The wedding ceremony took place a day earlier in Karachi.
After becoming engaged two years ago, the couple had a private nikah ceremony in February this year.
In a heartfelt post on X (formerly Twitter), the former cricketer composed Urdu couplets for his daughter.
The former Pakistan captain shared two photos of himself with the newlyweds along with the couplet. In both pictures, taken from behind, Afridi is affectionately embracing his daughter and son-in-law in a joyful atmosphere.
One of the images showed the former all-rounder leans toward Ansha, conveying the emotions of a father seeing his daughter off.
In the photo, Afridi’s daughter is wearing an intricately designed red outfit adorned with gold zardozi and sequin work.
Pictures from the wedding, which took place at a private venue in Karachi, have gone viral on social media, featuring Shaheen mingling with guests and fellow cricketer and Pakistan captain Babar Azam during the festive celebration.
The 23-year-old fast bowler arrived at the venue with his family to welcome his bride, while the rukhsati (seeing off) ceremony included a diverse guest list, including former captain Misbah-ul-Haq, Saeed Anwar, Tanveer Ahmed, and Sohail Khan.
The couple tied the knot seven months ago in Karachi. However, Ansha’s rukhsati was postponed until September. Their valima ceremony will take place in Islamabad on September 21.
