GUJAR KHAN: A teacher from a seminary under the jurisdiction of the Dina police station in Jhelum district has been arrested on charges of sexually assaulting three students and attempting to abuse seven others.
The incident came to light when Mohammad Shahzad, the father of a 14-year-old student named Abdul Rehman, filed a complaint with the police, alleging that his son, who attended Jamia Darul Quran, was sexually assaulted within the seminary premises last Sunday evening.
The complaint further stated that the teacher had assaulted two other students on multiple occasions. Prompt action was taken by the Dina police following the complaint, resulting in the apprehension of the accused teacher. A case has been registered against him under sections 376 (iii) and 377-B of the Pakistan Penal Code.
District Police Officer (DPO) Jhelum, Nasir Mahmood Bajwa, confirmed the detention of the suspect, stating that a team of senior police officers is currently interrogating him. Regional Police Officer (RPO) Rawalpindi, Babar Sarfraz Alpa, also confirmed the arrest and mentioned that the victims underwent a medical examination at a hospital to gather evidence.
Earlier, in Karachi, a man was arrested by police for groping a woman in broad daylight, following the circulation of CCTV footage capturing the incident on social media and news channels.
The incident occurred in Pak Colony, where the woman was walking along an empty street. The perpetrator approached her from behind, groped her, and swiftly fled the scene. The CCTV footage showed the man wearing a blue t-shirt, a cap, and sporting a beard.
Law enforcement successfully located and detained the suspect with the help of the video. However, authorities await the woman’s formal complaint to proceed with legal action.
