ISLAMABAD: A breakthrough has been reported in the tragic case of a seven-year-old girl who was abducted and murdered on Easter Day, as the prime suspect—her maternal uncle—was killed during a police operation.
Police officials confirmed that the suspect, a drug addict with a troubling past, was apprehended late last night in the Mandra area by a special law enforcement unit. Following his arrest, he was taken to Mureed Phatak to assist in locating the alleged murder weapon.
During the operation, the police convoy came under fire from unidentified assailants. In the ensuing gunfight, the suspect was critically injured and died from his wounds en route to the hospital. His body was later shifted to THQ Hospital in Gujar Khan. Authorities have since launched a manhunt to capture those responsible for the attack on the police team.
The young girl’s body had been found in an under-construction house within a 5-marla housing scheme on the night between Sunday and Monday. The case was formally registered after her father lodged a complaint.
Investigations remain ongoing, with police vowing to ensure all individuals connected to the crime are held accountable.
