Punjab Government Issues Snowfall Alert for Murree Tourists, Sets Up Facilitation Centers

On Saturday, the interim government of Punjab issued a warning for tourists heading to Murree and nearby attractions to witness snowfall, implementing measures to ensure safety and prevent a recurrence of the tragic events in 2022 when 22 individuals lost their lives in Murree due to a snowstorm.

Facilitation centers have been established by the authorities to guide tourists during snowfall, with the aim of providing assistance and avoiding incidents.

The provincial government has emphasized the importance of tourists taking necessary safety precautions before embarking on their journey to Murree.

Three facilitation centers operated by the Tourism and Development Corporation of Punjab (TDCP) located at Mall Road, Kashmir Point, and Bansra Gali are actively offering guidance to tourists. These centers operate around the clock, providing support to both local and foreign tourists.

The Secretary of Tourism in Punjab has assured that essential items such as petrol and meals have been arranged for tourists at these centers, underscoring the commitment to ensuring the well-being of visitors during their snowfall experience.

PTI Alleges Abduction of Usman Dar’s Brother in Lahore; Police Deny Involvement

Meanwhile, the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) asserted that Umar Dar, the brother of former party leader Usman Dar, has reportedly been abducted in Lahore.

The PTI accused PML-N’s Khawaja Asif of orchestrating the incident to undermine the Dar family’s standing in the upcoming elections.

A Lahore police spokesman, Agha Ehtesham, dismissed reports suggesting that the police detained Umar but did not provide additional details.

In a video shared by the PTI on X, Umar’s mother disclosed her son’s abduction in Lahore and appealed to the Chief Justice of Pakistan to intervene and address the situation.

She expressed distress as a mother and widow and urged the CJP to ensure her son’s appearance in court.

The PTI, in an Instagram post, labeled Umar Dar’s abduction during the election scrutiny phase as another instance of the mockery of law in Pakistan.

Murree

Supporting the PTI’s claims, party leader Omar Ayub Khan condemned the abduction, stating that Umar, son of Rehana Dar, who submitted nomination papers against Asif in Sialkot, was abducted by unknown individuals in Lahore.
