Sher Afzal Marwat, former member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), has revealed that dialogues involving the party are not pending initiation—they are already underway.
Speaking to the media, Marwat asserted that one of the biggest hurdles to the PTI founder’s release and the party’s reintegration into mainstream politics has been the disruptive role of certain YouTubers. “They’ve caused serious damage to the party with fabricated and misleading news,” he stated.
Marwat claimed that the PTI founder has been informed that the party is currently so weakened it cannot even organize protests at the street level.
He further disclosed that during the negotiation process, six guarantors were proposed—three from each side. “Ali Amin Gandapur was the primary guarantor. There were two days allocated for implementing the agreement, but the process derailed,” he added.
According to Marwat, an agreement was reached in December to address and remove obstacles, but the situation took a negative turn due to a flurry of misleading narratives on social media, which, in his view, further fractured the party.
He also criticized the re-entry of individuals who had previously denounced the events of May 9 and testified against the party’s founder, stating they have now returned through unofficial means.
